"The House on Christmas Street"

Lyrics

The House on Christmas Street
Lyrics & Music by Judy Pancoast © 1998

Verse one
Let me tell you about this house
There’s one in every town
It’s the one, at Christmas-time,
Where folks all gather ‘round.
Most times of the year you’d pass by and not look back,
Oh, but in December it’ll stop you in your tracks

Chorus
Cause it’s got 47-thousand twinkling lights
And Santa Claus up on the roof
Dasher and Dancer and all the other reindeer
Rudolph’s up there, too.
With a band of merry snowmen dancing on the porch
And a couple of carolers singing by the lamp post over near the front door;
Jesus and His Family in a stable on the lawn
And a choir of heavenly angels singing “Silent Night” ‘til dawn;
It’s where everybody meets
It’s the house on Christmas Street

Verse two
Every year, Thanksgiving Day,
While we digest our turkey
The family puts up its display,
You can see it from Albuquerque;
Papa says they’re electric bill must reach up to the sky!
But Mama says the joy it brings is more than money can buy
repeat chorus

Bridge
Every tree is all aglow
With a “Season’s Greetings” banner hanging high
It’s so pretty in the snow
It’s got to put a sparkle in your eye
In your eye
repeat chorus

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Lyrics & Music by Johnny Marks (c) 1949
Traditional version

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer had a very shiny nose;
And if you ever saw it you would even say it glows!
All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names;
They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games.
Then one foggy Christmas eve, Santa came to say,
“Rudolph with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then how the reindeer loved him as they shouted out with glee
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, you’ll go down in history!”

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Schoolyard version

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (reindeer)
Had a very shiny nose (like a light bulb);
And if you ever saw it (saw it)
You would even say it glows (like a flashlight)!
All of the other reindeer (reindeer)
Used to laugh and call him names (like Pinocchio);
They never let poor Rudolph (Rudolph)
Join in any reindeer games (like Monopoly).
Then one foggy Christmas eve, Santa came to say (HO! HO! HO!),
“Rudolph with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then how the reindeer loved him (loved him)
As they shouted out with glee (Yippee!)
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (reindeer)
You’ll go down in history! (like George Washington!)”

Christmas Every Day
Lyrics & Music by Judy Pancoast © 1998

Verse one
When I was feeling sad you kissed away my tears,
You sat with me at night-time and chased away my fears;
Now it’s Christmas-time and I just want to say
There’s nothing more to give to me than what you’ve given every day;

Chorus
With you in my life it can be Christmas in July;
You are so caring and thoughtful in every way;
The joy that you bring makes my heart want to dance and sing;
You make it Christmas Every Day!

Verse two
Now December’s here with trees and decorations;
Everybody’s hurrying to Christmas celebrations;
You’re wondering what to give me, you don’t have much to spend;
But everything that I could want is here with you, my special friend.

Repeat chorus

Pickles
Lyrics & Music by Judy and Emma Pancoast © 1998

I’m puttin’ pickles on the window,
I’m puttin’ pickles on the window,
I’m puttin’ pickles on the window
For Santa Claus to see;
I’m baking pickle cookies,
I’m baking pickle cookies,
I’m baking pickle cookies
For Santa clause to eat!

I’m puttin’ out pickle ornaments,
I’m puttin’ out pickle ornaments,
I’m puttin’ out pickle ornaments
For Santa Claus to hang!

Chorus
Of all the things I like to eat,
Pickles are my favorite treat
I love to taste their tangy slime,
Especially at Christmas-time!

I’m hangin’ pickles on the mantle,
I’m hangin’ pickles on the mantle,
I’m hangin’ pickles on the mantle
For Santa Claus to fill!

Puttin’ out pickles for the reindeer,
I’m puttin’ out pickles for the reindeer,
I’m puttin’ out pickles for the reindeer,
For Rudolph and his pals.
I’m painting pickle Christmas cards,
I’m painting pickle Christmas cards,
I’m painting pickle Christmas cards
To send to all my pals!

Repeat chorus

I’m puttin’ pickles on the window,
I’m puttin’ pickles on the window,
I’m puttin’ pickles on the window,
For Santa Claus, for Santa Claus
For Santa Claus to see! YUM!

Freddie the Little Fir Tree
Lyrics & Music by Merle Travis & Ned Fairchild © 1953

Freddie the Little Fir Tree stood in the forest tall;
He wished he could be a Christmas tree but he was much too small.
Christmas season had come and Christmas Carols chimed
But Freddie was teased by the other trees
Cause he was left behind;

Then came a man with an axe in his hand and much to Freddie’s joy,
He cut him down and took him to town where he caught the eye of a girl and boy;
Now Freddie the Little Fir Tree stands in the window wide,
All green and red with an angel on his head and shines on the snow outside.

They all agree he’s a beautiful tree, too bad that he can’t stay;
The children know he’ll have to go when the holidays have passed away;
But Freddie the Little Fir Tree is happy as he can be;
He wish came true when he turned into a merry little Christmas tree!

Now Freddie the Little Fir Tree stands in the window wide,
All green and red with an angel on his head and shines on the snow outside.

They all agree he’s a beautiful tree, too bad that he can’t stay;
The children know he’ll have to go when the holidays have passed away;
But Freddie the Little Fir Tree is happy as he can be;
He wish came true when he turned into a merry little Christmas tree!
He’s a merry, merry little Christmas tree!

The Magic of a Christmas Tree
Lyrics & Music by Judy Pancoast © 1998

Verse one
You’re walking home from school through the falling snow,
You look up and you see it in the window;
It’s your Christmas tree,
Making magic in the air
When your chores are done after dinner time,
You sit back just to watch the twinkling lights shine;
It’s your Christmas tree,
It’s the best one anywhere

Chorus
The magic of a Christmas tree turns an ordinary room into a fantasy
Imagine Santa Claus standing there on Christmas tree
Makes even the biggest kid around believe
In a Christmas tree

Verse two
Every year you say, “It’s the best one yet!”
Sporting all the special ornaments you can’t forget;
It’s your Christmas tree
Holding memories of your life;
You take the catalogs to make your Christmas list;
Under the tree wishing every wish
And the Christmas tree makes the wishes all come alive!

Repeat chorus twice
